Knowing all about unheard of vineyards in Burgundy, or the merits of different claret vintages of the 1990's is certainly not the idea, but, AS A TEAM, being able to discern various basic characteristics of wines tasted is the objective. Invariably, the element of competition and education combine to ensure truly memorable entertainment. Everybody has an opportunity to contribute and a civilised "pub quiz" atmosphere develops. |

| Motivation
is provided by the Champagne prizes and just ...winning. Table setting's
can be juggled by the host to get the most from the event. At the conclusion, Champagne prizes are for the winning tables. Guests are given a list of the wines tasted so that they can pop into Oddbins, Majestic, Tesco or wherever on the High Street to buy their favourites. |

The standing & milling-about option Sometimes time or space do not permit the luxury of being seated and working in groups. An alternative for guests to mingle "a la cocktail party" and taste at leisure both white and red wines "blind", and at the end of the event hand in their answers. This format works very well with a mixture of sparkling wines and Champagne.An introductory talk sets the scene and our speaker is on hand throughout to give tasting tips and hints. The winners get a bottle of Vintage Champagne all to themselves! |
